A short day visit to Flat Holm will give you 3 hours on the island, where visitors can purchase a self guided tour pack, providing a unique opportunity to discover Flat Holm's wildlife and historic buildings. Guided tours will be available on certain dates. There will be a chance to relax and enjoy the island's atmosphere with a cup of tea or coffee and a chance to visit our well stocked souvenir shop selling monoculasrs and caps, fairtrade snacks and drinks and a range of souvenirs for you to buy as a memento of your island experience.

Scheduled 3 hour visits run from March to October. For bookings and more details including charges contact the Booking office. All trips depart from the Barrage South Water Bus Stop, situated in the Penarth Marina aboard the Lewis Alexander and the crossing takes about 50 minutes. Parking is availiable in the Barrage South Car Park and we can provide you with a parking ticket valid for the day of your visit when you book.
Please be at the departure point 30 minutes before the boat is due to leave.
Group bookings are welcome.
Residential visits are also available for groups who want to stay on Flat Holm, contact the booking office for more details.
All visits are dependent on weather and may be cancelled due to strong winds, sometimes at short notice. We regret that the boat trip is unsuitable for toddlers under the age of four.
The Lewis Alexander is the Flat Holm Project's own boat. It is purpose built for the crossing to Flat Holm. It carries up to 45 passengers and carries essential supplies to the island.
Licensed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency the boat operates within the strict guidelines laid down by them. It is operated by highly experienced staff that will ensure that your crossing is safe and enjoyable.
